We believe it is our duty to help those less fortunate than us and we are proud to work closely with the community around us.

We believe that every child has the right to an education and Benson, together with a handful of past travellers, are proudly sponsoring a girl child in her primary and secondary education.

Joy was born in a rural village located on the outskirts of Moshi, at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. Abandoned by her Father as a young child, Joy’s Mother is HIV positive and her future looked bleak.

Living on less than $1.25 USD a day and without money to provide an education, Joy attended a local Government school which was under-staffed, under-resourced and over-populated producing poor educational outcomes for students. Being a girl child, Joy would have been forced to leave school at an early age due to poverty and social pressures and begin manual work to assist the family financially and the cycle of poverty would have continued.

In 2009, Benson and a few clients began sponsoring Joy in her primary education and she moved from a local Government school in rural Moshi to a boarding school located in Arusha. In 2016, Joy completed her first year of secondary school and is thriving.

In addition to paying for Joy’s school fees, we also pay for her uniform, school shoes and bag, textbooks, stationary including notebooks and pens, personal items such as soap and sanitary pads and medical care.

Joy will complete her secondary education in 2021 and we are always looking for additional sponsors to assist with Joy’s educational costs. 100% of all monies donated goes directly to Joy’s education and our goal is to have enough sponsors and money to sponsor another child in their education.

If you are interested in sponsoring Joy (or an additional child) in their education please email Benson directly at info@bensonsafaris.com

We are proud to partner with the Lengo Football Academy. Founded in 2012, the Lengo Football Academy is located on the outskirts of Arusha with more than 140 current members (boys and girls) ranging from 5-22 years old. It is a non-for-profit that offers opportunities for disadvantaged youth, street children and orphans to better their lives through football (soccer). They also support their members with their primary and secondary education, vocational training and university education through sponsorships and have they partnered with local companies to help its players secure employment with the aim to fight the cycle of poverty. In addition, they provide high quality football training, producing professional players, coaches and referees from those who have the talent, ability and desire.

In addition to gaining skills in leadership and learning about commitment, equality, respect, responsibility and teamwork through football, Lengo’s members and their families are also educated on health issues such as basic sanitation, nutrition, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV and AIDS, addiction and depression.

When you book your safari or trek with us you are also contributing to the Lengo Football Academy as a percentage of our profits are used to purchase much needed equipment including, but not limited to, soccer balls, bibs, shoes and referee whistles numerous times a year.

For those travellers who wish to experience the Lengo Football Academy first-hand, we offer a half day tour (available from Monday to Saturday) where you will walk through the village where you will see the player’s homes, majority are one-room, simple mud huts with up to 7 family members living together. You will witness the positive impact the Lengo Football Academy is having on the community before attending a training session where one of the players will take you through their program and explain how they assist and train the players. You will have the opportunity to meet the players and, if you like, have a kick of the football!
